The Bayou Bell Ringers is a group of mentally and physically handicapped individuals who have learned to take the DIS out of DISABILITY and have the ABILITY to perform with handbells. They are beautiful people who make beautiful music. The support of people like you makes it possible. We would love to perform for you.
We Can All Ring, Inc., the supporting non-profit organization of the Bayou Bell Ringers, is devoted to the preservation and promotion of handbell ringing for individuals with handicaps in Lafourche Parish and surrounding areas. We desire to instill in each participant a sense of belonging, accomplishment, and self-confidence that will influence all areas of their lives as well as the lives of those who hear them.
In 1995 the Bayou Bell Ringers formed the parent 501-C corporation "We Can All Ring, Inc." and have been performing ever since.
The membership of nine has grown to 30 and still growing. It is comprised of members ranging from 6 years old to over 40 years. Some Bell Ringers are blind and some are so severely handicapped that they have the use of one finger only, yet with innovations from local citizens inventing special equipment, they can ring bells. Some Bell Ringers can sing and some can direct the bell choir. In addition to Bell Ringers, we have helpers, singers, parents, and equipment handlers all helping out.
Mr. Aaron Champagne, a music therapist, has been the director since the beginning. His tremendous talent has enabled the group to reach full potential. A Bayou Bell Ringers performance is an experience you will never forget.
